Snow fails to dampen Canmore running spirits.

The second annual Park2Pints road race took place on Saturday October 4th with 230 signed up runners. This local event joint organized by Strides Canmore and Canmore Area Mountain Bike Association (CAMBA) is a charitable event, raising money for CAMBA enabling their community work with trail infrastructure and maintenance.

Once again, weather proved to be a challenge to the organizers as cold weather tumbled in, bringing rain and snow. However, this did nothing to dampen turnout and community involvement as the local rock band The Ducks blasted out their play list as runners crossed the finish line, rain falling then turning to snow as the party started. Local curry cuisine from Authentic Indian was eagerly consumed, washed down with Canmore’s own Grizzly Paw Brewery specially brewed beer, topped off with Canmore’s Lovely Ice cream. Internationally renowned outdoor sports specialists Salomon provided prizes.

Kylie McKendrick, owner/operator of Canmore Strides said "It’s incredible to see the depth of our unique sporting community spirit. Last year Mother Nature hit us hard with rain, this year with snow. However we saw nothing but smiles and happiness. Thanks to all who turned out and to all our wonderful sponsors in making this year's event such a success."

Grant Flagler, CAMBA, echoed this sentiment, ‘We are still adding up the raised dollars. It is such a special event, organized by local passionate people, supported by all those who love this crazy sport. This event will only get bigger, bringing together our ever growing running community.’
