Our Team
Kylie & Paul Mckendrick
Owners Born and raised in Calgary, the mountains were Kylie and Paul’s backyard since they were kids. Kylie’s ski racing background had her in the mountains every weekend and fell in love with running during the summer months of training. Paul grew a passion for touring the mountains as a teenager and has since been exploring by foot, skis or his bike. After 15 years of working the Calgary corporate world, they moved out to Canmore in 2014 with their family to raise their 3 children in the mountains. Combining their business backgrounds with their passion of running and the trails, they opened Strides Canmore in March, 2018. |
Lyen Lau
Store Manager Lyen started running after a climbing injury sidelined him. Since then, he has found it’s a lot easier to explore the local mountain ranges without having a 30 pound pack on. Born and raised in Fort McMurray, Lyen has found his home in Canmore enjoying the local trails and pursuing personal feats in the mountains! Lyen is well known for his in depth knowledge of gear and all things running! |
Grace Smith
Grace left the flat lands of Saskatchewan in 1992 for the town of Banff. It was shortly after that she began exploring the Bow Valley which evolved into a love of trail running. Now residing in Canmore Grace can often be found running the local trails with friends. She also enjoys competing in running events which have taken her to various locations in Alberta, BC and the USA. |
Tim Sander
Tim moved from the UK to Canada in 2006 to Port Hardy on Vancouver Island. He and his wife Natasha moved to the BC Kootenay's in 2009 where they ran a B&B, kept honey bees and worked in the local schools. Canmore was the next stopping point, moving here in 2016. In addition to working at Alpenglow school, Tim has got to know the local trails through his lifelong passion of running and skiing. He started working at Strides in the summer of 2019 and has since become a Certified Running Coach. |
Anna Sellers
Anna is a Canmore local who has grown up in the mountains running, hiking and skiing. She started competing in running races at the age of 4, competed in track and field through high school, and is now a member of the Junior National Team in Biathlon. She also continues to coach and compete in both cross country running and track and field and does professional photography in her spare time! She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in Nordic skiing and running to the Strides Canmore team. |
Scott Hill
As a runner and self proclaimed cross country ski enthusiast Scott grew up pounding the pavement in the concrete jungle of Toronto. As any good Torontonian does, Scott spent the warm winter mornings roller skiing and exploring the numerous areas that the skiing mecca has to offer. After hearing many clever and completely original comments of "you forgot the snow" while out roller skiing, Scott finally took what the hecklers were saying to heart and packed up his car and made the journey west to find snow and a place where one can walk around a grocery store in ski boots and not feel out of place. Scott now enjoys suffering in the mountains and talking shop to anyone willing to listen. |
