Main Street Mile Charity Challenge
May 11th - 18th, 2026

To celebrate Main Street closing to traffic for the summer, we’re kicking off the Strides Main Street Mile Challenge — your chance to race, repeat, and chase your fastest mile from May 11th–18th. Take on the 1 mile (1.62 km) stretch along Main Street as many times as you like. Go all-out for a top time or stack up attempts — there’s more than one way to win. And this year, every step counts for more. Strides will donate $1 to the Bow Valley Food Bank for every mile recorded throughout the challenge. So whether you’re running hard or cruising with friends, you’re giving back to the community with every lap. 
How it works:
  • Find the segment on Strava: Strides Main Street Mile
  • Starting May 11th, start at the junction of 8th Street & 8th Avenue
  • Run the closed Main Street loop in a clockwise direction anytime between May 11 - May 18th
  • Your effort will be automatically recorded on Strava
  • Follow us on Instagram or Facebook for daily updates and prizes

Prizes up for grabs:
  • Fastest male & female
  • Most attempts
  • Plus random spot prizes (because consistency deserves love too)

​Whether you're chasing a PR, walking a lap, or just soaking up the energy of a car-free Main Street, this is your sign to lace up, get after it and give back to our community.

Mutt Strut with the Bow Valley SPCA

Join the Bow Valley SPCA and Strides Running Store for a fun run or walk in support of local shelter animals. Taking place on Saturday, May 16th, this donation-based event offers 1 km, 3 km, and 6 km distances, starting at 9:00 am from Railway Ave & Gateway Street in Canmore. Humans and dogs are welcome—stick around after for treats, community connection, and exclusive in-store discounts at Strides.

Strides Mountain Running Speaker Series
June 1st - 22nd | Mondays 5:30 - 7pm
As part of our Striders Monday trail runs, join us this June for a 4-week Mountain Running Speaker Series designed to help you move smarter, run stronger, and feel more confident in the mountains. Each week, we’re bringing in experienced local experts to dive into key topics for trail and mountain runners. Each session will include learning AND running over 90minutes so come prepared for a 5-7km trail run as part of each session.

Topics include:
  • June 1st - Mountain safety with Adam Martens
  • June 8th - Running form & injury prevention with Aly Walford
  • June 15th - Strength training for runners with Andy Reed
  • June 22nd - Uphill & downhill running with Salomon

Whether you’re new to the trails or looking to refine your skills, this series is built to support your mountain running journey, on and off the trail. FREE OF CHARGE and no sign-up necessary.
